Ann Yoachim is the director of the Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design and a professor of practice at the Tulane School of Architecture. In her role as director, she leads the center’s programs and projects, drives strategic initiatives, and cultivates key partnerships to advance its mission.
As a professor of practice, Ann fosters learning environments that encourage students to take ownership of their education both individually and collectively. With 15 years of experience bridging campus and community, she works to amplify community voices and support meaningful change. Her interdisciplinary approach addresses the built, natural, and social environments, focusing on health, wellness, equity, and resilience in both rural and urban contexts. Her work spans climate change adaptation, strategic planning, and design thinking for philanthropic initiatives.
Ann teaches undergraduate and graduate courses that engage students with complex societal challenges, emphasizing interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration. She holds a Master of Public Health from Tulane University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and political science from Dickinson College. She was also a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2012–2013.
