The Student Leadership Council of the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University offers a unique opportunity for students to build leadership, collaboration, and civic engagement skills while contributing to one of the nation’s leading literary celebrations. Members of the Student Leadership Council are integral to the seamless execution of the event and gain valuable behind-the-scenes experience before, during, and after the festival.
Who Can Apply?
All currently enrolled university students in good standing—whether you’re full-time, part-time, undergraduate, graduate, or a professional student—are welcome to apply.
What Will You Do?
As a member of the cohort, you will meet monthly with festival staff before and after the sixth annual New Orleans Book Festival, happening March 11-14, 2027. Tasks include but are not limited to
- Meeting at 4:00 PM on the last Wednesday of every month
- Contributing creative programming ideas
- Enhancing campus engagement by promoting the festival on social media
- Operational support during the festival
- Leading a literacy-oriented service project

About the Festival
The New Orleans Book Festival kicks off with keynote addresses on Thursday, March 11, 2027, followed by two days filled with interviews, readings and demonstrations.
