Connie Collins Morgan holds a Master of Fine Arts in Children’s Literature from Hollins University, where she completed her thesis, The Cajun I Am, a collection of six original children’s stories. A former Maryland public school teacher with over 25 years of experience in elementary and middle school education, she is the author of three children’s books: The Runaway Beignet, Hercules on the Bayou, and The Cajun Fisherman and His Wife—each earning praise and recognition from Kirkus Reviews and the ReViews section of School Library Connection. Connie’s book, The Runaway Beignet, made Pelican Publishing’s top 10 best-seller list upon release and made Amazon’s Best Seller list in 2024 and 2025 in the category Children’s Books (U.S.). She is a two-time featured author at the Louisiana State Book Festival.
A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Connie grew up immersed in a French-speaking culture that continues to influence her storytelling. When she’s not writing or traveling, Connie spends time with her family and friends, enjoying life to its fullest.
