Jamy Wheless is an American animation director, producer, and veteran animator with over 30 years of experience spanning feature films, independent animation, and education. He began his career at Industrial Light & Magic, contributing to some of the most iconic films in cinema, including Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Hulk.
Wheless is the CEO and Animation Director of Ignite Animation Studios and the creator of the award-winning short film Andy: A Dog’s Tale, which has reached millions of viewers worldwide and inspired a children’s book supporting service-dogs for Canine Companions.
In addition to his studio work, Jamy teaches story development and character animation at Auburn University and through his online program, Animate Characters™, where he mentors the next generation of animators and storytellers, emphasizing craft, collaboration, and authentic storytelling.
