Lucy Bustamante is a New Orleans-born journalist who has built a successful career in broadcast news. Her passion for journalism began at Cabrini High School when she was selected to participate in Our Generation, a teen television program on WWL-TV. She later interned at WWL-TV and worked as a production assistant at WVUE before launching her reporting career in Biloxi.
In 2004, Bustamante returned to WWL-TV as a reporter and became a trusted voice during Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath. By 2006, she was anchoring the evening news, winning over Louisiana audiences with her professionalism and warmth. As a proud Cuban American, she connected with the region’s Latino community, embracing her heritage both on and off the screen.
When her husband, a Navy SEAL, was stationed in Virginia Beach, Bustamante relocated, continuing her broadcast career in Norfolk before eventually settling in Philadelphia. She anchored the morning news at NBC10 and provided Spanish-language breaking news coverage for Telemundo62, all while balancing the demands of being a military spouse and mother of four.
Bustamante joined the top-rated Fox 8 Morning Edition in October. Known for her warmth and professionalism, she will continue delivering the engaging news coverage that has made her a household name in New Orleans.
