Malcolm Mitchell is an author, literacy advocate, and former professional athlete whose journey from the football field to the world of books has inspired millions. A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Malcolm excelled at the University of Georgia (UGA), where he became one of the school’s all-time leading receivers and earned national recognition for his community service as Captain of the Allstate Good Works Team.
While at UGA, Malcolm discovered a love of reading that transformed his life. What began as a challenge became his greatest passion. In 2015, he published his first children’s book, The Magician’s Hat, and founded Read with Malcolm, a literacy initiative that grew into the Share the Magic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring young readers. The foundation has since distributed more than 350,000 books and delivered literacy programs to over two million students worldwide.
Drafted by the New England Patriots in 2016, Malcolm became a Super Bowl Champion in 2017. His advocacy has earned honors including the Promise Hero Award from Colin Powell’s America’s Promise Alliance, the International Dyslexia Association’s Pinnacle Award, and multiple “40 Under 40” recognitions.
Today, Malcolm serves as CEO of Share the Magic Foundation and was appointed to the Georgia Council on Literacy in 2023. Through his writing, public speaking, and statewide initiatives, he continues to champion the belief that reading can open doors to opportunity, imagination, and hope.
