Opening Night at the New Orleans Book Festival: A Powerful Kickoff with The Atlantic and Bryan Stevenson

Opening Night at the New Orleans Book Festival

Wednesday, March 26

The New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University is set to open with an evening of dynamic discussions on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at McAlister Auditorium. Doors open at 4 p.m., and seating is first come, first served—so plan to arrive early for this must-attend kickoff event.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with The Atlantic, one of America’s most influential publications, leading a thought-provoking conversation on the future of democracy and the American idea. Moderated by The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, this session features award-winning journalists Anne Applebaum, Adam Serwer, Elaina Plott Calabro, and McKay Coppins as they unpack some of the most pressing issues shaping our political and cultural landscape today.

At 6 p.m., the spotlight turns to Bryan Stevenson, the celebrated author of Just Mercy and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Stevenson will share insights on his groundbreaking work in criminal justice reform, racial equity, and the urgent need for mercy in the legal system. His deeply moving and impactful storytelling has inspired millions, making this conversation a festival highlight.

Please note, all attendees will be required to pass through metal detector security screenings upon entry.
